Overview of the recent ASO Ljubljana activities related to Climate Change
ASO Ljubljana and “Climate Change, SEE and Global Governance”
As these days everybody is looking to the historic UN lead climate change negotiations in Copenhagen we at ASO Ljubljana have decided to put together an overview of our activities in the field of international scientific cooperation with SEE countries on climate change. ASO Ljubljana has been active in mapping of scientific excellence and research programmes/strategies in SEE countries (e.g. ASO staff has contributed to the development of the information system http://www.global-issues-rtd.info/ of wbc-inco.net), in networking (through our ASO call 2008/2009 www.aso.zsi.at/ausschreibung/2744.html and a number of (co-organised) events, follow link below for details) and in capacity building (e.g. Bled SEE Foresight Training seminar with a focus on climate change http://aso.zsi.at/attach/1BledForesighttrainingfinalagenda2008.pdf).
Also the "Regional SEE Colloquium on Innovative Approaches to Teaching the UN System: Can the United Nations be taught?" (The electronic version of the publication (pdf) can be downloaded free of charge at ASO homepage http://www.aso.zsi.at/sl/publikation/3331.html) and the planned follow up-event “Teaching Climate Change and the UN” which shall take place second half of May 2010 in Belgrade are important contributions to strengthening resilience of SEE towards Climate change and to support SEE countries in their knowledge based responses to climate change.
