11th Bled Forum on Europe: Foresight Conference"The Future of Information Society and Challenges for Good Governance" & Preparatory Workshop “Western Balkan Futures: Foresight 2020 Project”

Bled Forum on Europe, Regional Foundation - Centre for eGovernace Development for South East Europe (CeGD), and the Austrian Science and Research Liaison office in Ljubljana (ASO) would like to kindly invite you to the 11th Bled Forum on Europe, Foresight Conference on "The Future of Information Society and Challenges for Good Governance", which will take place on the 11^th  and 12^th  of March, 2009 in Bled, Slovenia.

One of the main goals of the 11th Bled Forum on Europe conference is to contribute to further advancement of information society and knowledge based good governance (policy making) in Europe and especially in South Eastern European countries. Each year the participants and speakers at conference actively participate in the consultation process, which leads to a Final declaration of the Bled Forum on Europe, which is sent to policy makers at national, European and global level.

All participants that are obliged to arrange a Schengen visa will receive a formal invitation in order to settle the procedure.

BLED FORUM SIDE EVENT: BLED Preparatory Workshop for “Western Balkan Futures: Foresight 2020 Project” 10^th - 11^th of March 2010, Bled, Slovenia

This year Bled Forum on Europe organising committee decided – in cooperation with Regional Cooperation Council RCC - to use its expertise in SEE regional foresight capacity building to organise a project preparatory meeting for a concrete regional foresight project initiative which shall be proposed for funding. As participants of the workshop the organising committee invited participants from our previous SEE Foresight Training seminars, which we have organised in the frame of Bled forum on Europe Events in last 3 years and additional foresight experts and experts with relevant knowledge, who have been nominated by Regional Cooperation Council Sarajevo.

The selection criteria have been: involvement in foresight research or related science/knowledge based strategy development activities, practical experience, dissemination potential, gender balance and geographical distribution of participants.

The main objective of this preparatory workshop is to kick off a discussion the “Western Balkan Futures: Foresight 2020 Project”, which will aim at:

• Developing a Knowledge Society in the region while speeding up the integration process to the EU
• Identifying priority areas for social and economic development in the Western Balkan region and financing those areas through development support funds
• Opening opportunities for sectoral development and thus increasing the role of the region in the global economy
